My Open Box ASUS 5850 Overclock

just bought a Asus 5850 and so I thought the overclock but I can not find any software for it. Nothing works (ATITool, powersrip etc. ...). I saw on the forum that people with this card that have managed to overclock but it does not specify what software they used. If someone knows more about the subject I am very grateful to him.

Re: My Open Box ASUS 5850 Overclock
You can use the MSI afterburner or AMD GPUclock. Utility AMD GPU Clock Tool allows easy overclocking and monitoring the temperature of a graphics card based on Radeon. Compatible with Windows XP and Vista, it overclock everything, including the last R600 and RV610 and RV630 derivatives. AMD GPU Clock Tool is a utility developed by the manufacturer itself, which allows overclocking Radeon. With the arrival of the Radeon HD 4870 and 4850, the utility has spent in version v0.9.8.

Re: My Open Box ASUS 5850 Overclock
I am having little another problem. Look at my issue, AMD GPU clock tool gives me error message as the launch :
"Failed: No valid devices found!" Yet MSI AB and CCC also works well. Except that MSI 775/1125 AB crashes.
Anyone knowing the solution, please provide it to me.!!

The error message that must be 'cause you do not have the latest version of gup amd clock tool. For limitations is normal: the bios of most maps is clamped at 775/1125 which is the boundary via the OC CCC, to override this limit requires a bios flash the bios from asus that pushes these two limited to 1200/1400 it seems.

To resolve this issue you will have to create a DOS bootable USB drive to make your flash. For that you will have to install HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool. After that your key is bootable, you can now do as if it was a startup disk by booting it. Hope that flashing the BIOS will help you to fix that error.

Restart the PC.
Choose start on the key in the bios boot option
Once on the key type "dir" to access the files present and enter the following command :
atiflash [space]-fs [space]-p [space] 0 [space] nomdubios
I never know too much about the memory space, but that must be it, he will tell you if there is a format error. Then it asks you to reboot to validate. Finally uninstall and reinstall the drivers.

No more worries of bios for the Asus bios can set up until 1200 to 1400 for the GPU and memory, while the other brand blocks their bios to 775/1125 probably limited the interest of the HD5850 face HD5870. Otherwise once the OverClocked 2 cards would not even 10% difference so few people will buy the HD5870.
